Kar98k
The Kar98k is a 7.62mm sniper rifle. It carries about 1.55 s between shots, a 5-round magazine and a 2.0 s reload. Against an unarmored target at point-blank range, a torso shot deals 102.7 damage (one hit to kill) and a head shot deals 197.5 (one hit).

Field notes
reviewed for Update 42.3The Kar98k is the yardstick every other bolt-action gets measured against. 79 base damage under the sniper class's 2.5× head multiplier makes the math famous: a headshot one-shots through a level-2 helmet, while a level-3 helmet survives it with a sliver — which is exactly why level-3 helmets matter in the late game.
The cost of that damage is time. At 39 rpm the bolt cycle leaves roughly a second and a half between shots, and the 5-round internal magazine takes no extended magazine at all — the Kar98k's three attachment slots are optic, muzzle, and stock only. Miss, and you are committed to the longest follow-up in the game short of the AWM.
Its exact twin, the Mosin-Nagant — identical 79 damage, 760 m/s, 5 rounds — was removed from the game in Update 42.1, leaving the Kar98k as the sole world-spawn carrier of this particular profile. The Mosin's page stays up for reference.
- Headshot one-shots up to and including a level-2 helmet; level 3 survives.
- 39 rpm bolt cycle — about 1.5 s between shots.
- No magazine slot: 5-round internal magazine, no extended option.
- Statistically identical to the removed Mosin-Nagant (79 dmg / 760 m/s / 5 rounds).
