Field notes

reviewed for Update 42.3

The Mk12 is the 5.56 marksman rifle you pick for trajectory. Its 900 m/s muzzle velocity is the second-fastest of any DMR — only the Mini-14 (990 m/s) sends a flatter shot — which makes leading a moving target at 200–300 m noticeably more forgiving than with the 7.62 DMRs.

Its 43 base damage barely edges the Mini-14 and QBU88 (42 each), so what separates it inside the 5.56 trio is the kit: the Mk12 carries a lower rail and takes a foregrip, something only one other DMR in the game (the SKS) can say. With a grip and a compensator fitted, its 330 rpm single-fire spam stays on target well enough to function as a poor man's auto at mid range.

The trade against the 7.62 DMRs is the usual caliber math: the SLR and Mk14 hit harder per shot, but the Mk12 asks less of your recoil control and its ammo shares a pool with your 5.56 rifle.

Worth knowing
  • One of only two DMRs with a foregrip slot (the other is the SKS).
  • 900 m/s muzzle velocity — second among all DMRs, behind the Mini-14.
  • Full four-slot kit: optic, magazine, muzzle, and lower rail.
  • 2.5 s reload, like all 5.56 DMRs — over half a second quicker than the 7.62 DMRs' 3.1 s.
